I never thought I’d type that sentence. Elias went back and forth as being a likeable and not-so-likeable hero for me. It was an interesting situation.

It does have steamy scenes, but mostly focuses on the characters and the shifting dynamics between Vicky and her two romantic friends as they try to find a balance as a trio. Despite the missteps in the threesome, the sex is HAWT. That he can be a friend, a lover, a protector when necessary, and a giver.
With concrete world building, multi-layered characters and a dynamic plot, this story is an excellent portrayal of a woman taking her first steps into the world of BDSM and struggling to hold onto the two men who have stolen her heart. Vicky learns that while she loves Elias, she needs more.
Joely Sue Burkhart is the first in quite a long time to be in that very sparsely populated category for me. Jesse is a homeless artist with model looks. His obvious submissive side seems to bring out a side to Vicki that no one prepared for; a Dominant side that she was unaware existed. Stop putting them “in their rightful place”— ie, pinned beneath a more-dominant man. The story was raw and intense with many emotional twists and turns as well as ups and downs.
Pride kept him away, but as long as Jesse yourx staying in Vicki’s downstairs shop, he’s staying with Vicki. All the books standalone but are richer when read in order. That said, though, what I got was lovely, and has made me want to eue other books with similar themes.
Fantastic is the woman being the burkkhart important thing.
